David Justin Lynch, Esquire

I was born in 1951 in Bridgeport, Connecticut and grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut where I attended private and public schools. My mother, Gloria Krolikowska, is a retired actress, and my father, Robert F. Lynch, is a retired attorney. My brother, Geoffrey P. Lynch, sells paper. My sister, Pamela Lynch Silverman, is a housewife who sells Internet advertising part-time. My favorite sports growing up were baseball, soccer, and polo. I umpired college, semi-pro and professional baseball part-time from 1970 to 1984.

I graduated with a BA in Communications-Journalism from the University of Pittsburgh in 1974 and worked for Greater New York Insurance and Hartford Insurance as a company adjuster until December 1976, when I came to California. The reason? I love warm, dry weather!  The East Coast of the United States has a superior culture--but lousy, cold, wet weather. Spring and Summer are my seasons--who needs Fall and Winter?

Upon arrival in the Golden State, I became an independent claims adjuster for Carl Warren & Company and then Kurtz, Richards, Wilson & Company. In 1985, I started Elite Investigations and made it Southern California's premier adjusting and investigation service. Along the way, I also became a licensed real estate broker and licensed private investigator. My experience has included buying, selling, financing, and managing rental real estate in California and Arizona since 1978.

Burned out on claims, I went to law school at age 40. I graduated from Western State University College of Law Cum Laude in May 1995, with AmJur Awards in Real Property, Wills, and Remedies.

I was admitted to the California Bar December 12, 1995.  I am also admitted to the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  I was victorious in a matter published in California Compensation Cases where I prevailed against Star Insurance Company on an insurance coverage issue in a Worker Compensation case. It is 68 Cal. Comp. Cas 92; 2002 Cal. Wrk. Comp. LEXIS 750. I also have been on the winning side in two other appellate cases on the issues of permissible attorney contacts with employees of a corporate employer and the reach of a no-contest clause in a testamentary document. My favorite activities as a lawyer are taking depositions, propounding discovery, and writing briefs for appeals and law and motion.

The day I was sworn in, I started a private law practice in Anaheim, CA. In 1996, I became Managing Shareholder of Lynch & Wenzel, ALC. In June 2001, I established a new law practice in Palm Springs which later became Lynch Crowell & Associates. My latest business venture is Esquire Brokerage, a real estate company emphasizing income property and business opportunities.

What characterizes me as a lawyer is my aggressiveness. I don't fear anyone or anything. I am willing to "push the envelope" and confront opposing parties where that approach is in the client's best interests. However, I also know my limitations and when to "back off" and let my partner, Laura Diane Crowell, take over in those situations where she will do a better job than me.

My interests outside of work include the Episcopal Church, more particularly, St. Paul's Pomona where I sing countertenor in the choir, classical music, computers, baseball (I'm a Yankee Fan!) and cooking. I am a published author of two articles in "The Living Church", one on incense in worship and the other on singing the gospel at Mass.

I am married to Sharon K. Talley (known to me as Beeper), a professional salesperson with long blond hair, a big smile, and a strong will. She loves to go to the health club and the movies. Sharon is a very independent woman. She won't let me tell her what to do. Childfree by choice, the rest of our family consists of three darling little girls: Molly and Bailey, Dachshunds, and Hoochie, a Chihuahua.

Laura D. Crowell, Esquire

My greatest strength as a lawyer is my ability to settle cases--that is, to get the defense attorneys and the insurance companies to put money in your pocket. I'm always happy to see my clients walk a nice big check to the bank so they can take a vacation or buy a new car or even a house! I can't guarantee how much I'll get you but you can rest assured I'm working really hard for you to get you the most money I possibly can!

I
was born and raised in the Chicago area in 1952, coming to California to attend USC where I majored in political science and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1973. I graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1976 and, much later, in 1994 obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University. I was admitted to the Bar in December 1976.

Litigation has been my area of expertise, along with personal injury, business, workers compensation, family law, and a sampling of everything else. I have practiced in 27 states and managed as many as 2000 cases at a time. I ran my own firm of 8 lawyers and 4 paralegals for 5 years. Prior to that I had experienced working in a small firm of 18 lawyers and a large firm of 133 lawyers. I have been a registered lobbyist in Sacramento and testified before the Senate in both Sacramento as well as Washington DC. I co-authored the comparative indemnity statute in 1982, and assisted in the development of a number of bills that later became law in California. Finally came to my senses and moved to the desert permanently 5 years ago, and enjoy every minute of it.

My only child, Trevor, is a fourth year medical student at the USC School of Medicine. He is intelligent, polite, and will make an excellent doctor. I consider myself very blessed. I love my job, have a wonderful, supportive family and every glance at the mountains and the palm trees reminds me how lucky I am to be an American.
